How is PP recycled?

There are different sources that feed the network:
  • Bottle caps. After beverage bottles have been crushed into flakes, they are put into water to separate PET from PP (PP is floating while PET doesn’t).
  • Collection of PP items, such as garden furniture, etc.
  • Left-over materials after production of PP items

The recycling process is quite basic and requires no chemical substance:
  1. The collected PP pieces are washed and crushed into pieces (flakes)
  2. The flakes are heated up and transformed into PP pellets
  3. Recycled PP pellets are mixed with new PP pellets to improve the quality. Recycling PP is slightly affecting its resistance, this is the reason why we add some new material, in order to guarantee a perfect mechanical resistance to our bags
  4. Mixed PP pellets are now ready to integrate the usual fabric production lines of woven and/or non-woven fabric
